Federal office workers took to remote work with alacrity and have stuck to it with tenacity. Then came Covid-19 and the work-from-home revolution it unleashed. ![]() These moves meshed with a bipartisan effort to encourage federal agencies to allow more employees to work remotely (did you know there was a Telework Enhancement Act of 2010?), which was meant to aid in recruiting and retaining workers as well as holding down real estate and energy costs. The Obama administration announced its “Freeze the Footprint” policy in 2013 and moved on to “Reduce the Footprint” in 2015. The Trump administration continued this, with federal agencies’ leased space falling from 198 million square feet in 2013 to just more than 187 million in 2020 and also moved agencies from inside the Beltway to cheaper locales such as Kansas City, Missouri, and Grand Junction, Colorado. (Am I right fellow teachers?!) Something I really love about transitions is that it introduces kids to music, rhythm, and rhyming. You do not need to be a great singer to use these at home! Just try your best and your child will love it! □ It is super important to have these transitions as a classroom teacher. Transitions can be rhythmic chants, songs, or short stories. An example would be from lesson time to story time or clean up time to snack time. After taking the class, I was inspired to write more songs and transitions for preschool teachers and homeschoolers to use.įirst of all, what is a transition? A transition is something that helps moves children from one activity to another. The course was designed to help teachers plan out an effective schedule and transitions to help decrease the number of behavior issues that happen throughout the preschool day. They enjoy moving, making sounds, and singing! There’s something about music that draws them in and points their attention at whoever is making music.Ī few summers ago, I took a class on early childhood transitions with a lot of preschool teachers.
